2023 Binjipali School Project

Sambalpur India

2023 India Trip Summary

From March 8-22, 2023, 42 volunteers traveled to the Binjipali Adventist School near Sambalpur, India to build school classrooms, conduct a free dental clinic for the school children and staff and present a children’s ministries program.

We constructed a 120 foot long / 21 foot wide classroom structure using bricks, which was different for our group than our normal concrete blocks. We were blessed with a wonderful Maranatha team that were very patient with us and great collaborators. We completed the building as far as we could during our time there as they needed to pour concrete around the entire structure to finish the doors and windows. We were blessed with good weather - while it was hot, humidity was low and we had cloud cover for most of the trip. God blessed our team with good health as well.

Our Dental team had assistance from a local dentist and were able to treat most of the students during the week. We had dental equipment from our organization that worked for a day, and then stopped. The dentists were able to complete their work and were such a blessing to the students and staff during their time on the campus.

Our children’s ministries presented programs every day for the students and were able to share Christ’s love for them in new ways. The school is in a largely Hindu area and we were somewhat restricted in what we could share, but the team did a marvelous job of taking about God and how he cares for everyone.

After the work was done and the classrooms were dedicated, our group was able to see some of the wonderful sights in India. We traveled to Agra and were able to visit the Taj Mahal. We then went to Ranthambhore and participated in two days of wildlife safaris - half of our group were able to see a live tiger on the second day.
