From October 16-29, 2024, 33 volunteers traveled to Kenya to construct a large church at the Kimogoro school in Kenya. The team also conducted vacation bible school and medical outreach in the surrounding villages.
The construction team built a 70'x32' church on the campus. The old church needed replacing and the Maranatha team will build additional classrooms and dormitories on the land where the old church stood. We were blessed with a wonderful Maranatha team that were very patient with us and great collaborators. We completed the entire church and the team was able to complete the roof and put the windows and doors in on time for the dedication on Friday afternoon. We were blessed with mostly good weather - it was cool, but rained a couple of days. God blessed our team with good health as well and allowed us to navigate the LONG bus rides back and forth every day.
Our VBS team was able to witness to at least 200 children each day - sometimes with up to 750 kids at one village! they were able to share God's love through games, stories and crafts. The medical outreach team also visited the same villages and schools and were able to teach healthy living concepts and triage issues that may take additional care from local providers.
After the work was done and we worshipped with the Maranatha team, our group was able to see some of the wonderful sights in Kenya. The team traveled to the world-famous Masai Mara for two days of safari and seeing God's creation up close!
