Our spring 2019 Mission IS Possible trip led us to Canacota, Bolivia to build a church and conduct a dental/medical clinic at the former church across the field from the new church site. We had 33 volunteers on this mission trip and we had a special challenge of working at over 12,000 feet in elevation and sleeping at 10,850 feet elevation.
We were able to complete the church construction in six days with very cool and rainy weather - a welcome change from or our normally very hot working conditions. The elevation proved to be a challenge for a few of the crew on the first day, but all were fine after the initial adjustment. We were able to dedicate the church on Sabbath to a very welcoming congregation. The congregation had waited for years for this church, previously worshipping in a very small, rented building.
Our dental team was able to conduct their clinic in the rented church right next to the church we were building. They served over 100 patients during the week and are always an instrumental part of bringing the local community to know more about God and to the new church.
For our excursion, we traveled to Cochabamba to visit the worlds largest statue of Christ (yes, bigger than the one in Rio!) and other sights in the city.
