2018 Isiolo, Kenya Mission Trip
Our spring 2018 mission trip saw us travel to Isiolo, Kenya to construct a kitchen and dining hall for a large boarding school. We also conducted dental clinics and children's ministries in villages surrounding the area. We had 53 volunteers on this mission trip.
Our construction team was able to complete the large kitchen and dining hall. We completed in enough time to assist with installing the windows and doors. We were able to help purchase the tables and benches and assemble those as well. We were able to dedicate the building on Friday and serve the first meal to the students! The students took particular pleasure in knocking down the existing kitchen, which was very small and dirty and we saw rats running out of the building as it fell. The new kitchen and dining area will allow the students to each inside and the kitchen will allow for increased capacity and cleanliness.
Our dental team was able to conduct their clinic in the surrounding villages - in some interesting conditions and weather, including flooded roads some days. They were able to minister to hundreds of patients during the week, including at the school on the last day.
The VBS team were able to conduct their program in five different villages during the week, including the last day at the school.
For our excursion, we were able to visit the world-famous Masai Mara national park for an unforgettable safari.
