2021 Ica School Mission Trip Summary
Our Summer FOUNDations trip for 2021 was conducted from July 2-13 in Ica, Peru. We helped to construct a large school. Since we conducted this trip during Covid, we were not able to conduct any other ministries as Peru was on lockdown. This trip is focused on our young people from our church and 24 of the 36 volunteers were young people.
Our group of construction volunteers were able to complete a significant portion of the school during out time on site. We were able to help with much of the interior multi-purpose walls and several classroom walls. We were blessed with cool and dry weather and with a wonderful Maranatha team that had worked with our young people in previous years. We were able to celebrate with the local church members on Sabbath and the entire congregation was in attendance.
As this trip was conducted during Covid, we had to test multiple times during the week. Everyone tested negative during the trip and got the negative test needed in order to return to the USA!
For our excursion, we were able to go to a local sand dune and took the team on a dune buggy tour and we were able to go sandboarding!
